When Don W. Hood began hosting the World Class Vault Camps with his sons they had no idea the impact his methods would have on the vault world. Simple teaching, sound mechanical principles, and lots of repetitions in an atmosphere of high energy and powerful motivation has helped produce an unmatched legacy of success. One World Record Holder, several Olympians, two 19’ vaulters, eighteen  18’ vaulters and dozens more over 17’.

Year Round Opportunities for Instruction

Camps are held in many locations throughout the Summer and Winter. Private coaching is available in Searcy, AR  if your schedule doesn’t match up with the camp schedule.

Typical Camp Activities

1) Lecture and Video Study

2) Gymnastics & Approach skills

3) Takeoff drills & Pool Vaulting

4) Station Work – Short run vaults/ Approach/ Video

5) Full Vaults

Camp Schedule and Cost

Times may vary depending on facility availablity

Day One

 11:30 – 12:30 pm - Check-in.
1:00 – 2:00 pm - Lecture and video study at the site (bring flats)
2:00 – 4:00 pm - Drills and gymnastics 
4:00 – 5:00 pm - Underwater Vaulting (not available for winter) or Vaulting drills at the track
5:00 - 6:30 pm -  Supper break
6:30 – 9:00 pm - Break into groups for training pole work, pole runs and video study
9:00 pm - Return to hotel, snacks, lights out  

Day Two

7:45 – 8:15 am -  Breakfast
8:30 am - Depart for the track
8:45 – 9:15 am - Morning lecture
9:15 – 11:00 am - Drills & gymnastics
11:00 – 12:00 pm - Break into groups for vault drills, pole runs, underwater vaulting (if available) and video study.
12:00 – 1:30 pm - Lunch Break
1:30 – 2:45 pm - Vaulting and pole runs at the track
3:00 – 3:45 pm - Video study & snacks
4:00 – 6:00 pm - Bungi Competition

Day Three (Summer only)

7:45 – 8:15 am -  Breakfast
8:30 am - Check out of hotel
8:45 am - Report to the track
8:45 – 9:15 am - Morning Lecture
9:15 – 11:00 am - Vault competition 11:30 am - Depart for home 

Cost of Camp

$295 - Overnight campers - includes  lodging, meals and t-shirt

$250 - Commuter campers - includes t-shirt.
